9ct gold contains 37.5% pure gold, while 18ct gold contains 75% pure gold. The remainder is a mix of various metals, depending on whether it is a yellow gold or white gold piece. 9ct appears slightly more pale in colour while 18ct has a brighter, richer colour. Both are tough enough to be worn everyday for the rest of your life.
